Derby-Pie® Recipe?

It's top secret.

Derby-Pie® was developed over 50 years ago as the specialty pastry of the Melrose Inn, in Prospect, Kentucky. George Kern, manager of the restaurant, developed the Derby-Pie®  recipe with the help of his parents, Walter and Leaudra. The recipe remains a secret to this very day. Yes, we use real chocolate chips and premium walnut pieces – but no one has ever been able to duplicate our special filling and delicate crust.

There's only one Derby-Pie® chocolate nut pie. You can order it online here.

Serving Tip:

Derby-Pie® is best served by slicing frozen and serving warm. We recommend 12 minutes at 350º. The pie will come out of the oven with a perfect, flaky crust. It will be warm, toasty, and ready-to-eat, a perfect blend of sweet, crunchy goodness that will satisfy your innate need for chocolate. Grandma Leaudra liked it with a dollop of whipped cream on top-but you may discover your own way.

...delicious!

Hi! I ate a piece of your wonderful derby pie on the KY Dinner Train in October. This was the first time I had tried it. It was the best part of the night! I love desserts and your derby pie was delicious! A friend of mine just had to go to Bardstown for a seminar and I had her stop by the gift shop at the train to pick me up a whole pie. I saw your web site info on the box and I just wanted to let you know what I thought! I will be ordering from you soon. Keep up the terrific baking!"

A hooked customer,
